Since its founding by a physician over two decades ago, SOAPware has been providing the healthcare community with the most affordable, robust, easy-to-use EHR solutions available on the market. Our ONC-ATCB Certified software is designed by medical providers and engineered in a real-world setting, making SOAPware the preferred EMR for nearly 30,000 professionals from over 70 specialties across the U.S. and around the world.
For Randall Oates, MD, founder of SOAPware, Inc, the development of a commercial EHR system was incidental. The idea – born out of simple necessity – took shape during the flu season of 1987, Oates’ third year as a family physician in Springdale, AR. After seeing over 70 patients in a single day, Dr. Oates sat down to complete the mountain of charts waiting on his desk – and quickly found himself repeating the same phrases and sentences over and over again. Determined to find a more efficient way to complete his work, he opened his word processing program and began designing a solution that would streamline the entire process. By 1987, Dr. Oates was employing his custom-built program full-time, printing out prescriptions and completing all of his chart work electronically.
After revealing his ad hoc solution during the 1990 AAFP Scientific Assembly, Dr. Oates was delighted to see his colleagues express interest in his adaptable, user-friendly program. By the end of 1990, 30 doctors were using his prototype to improve workflow and productivity in their own clinics.
In 1992, Dr. Oates combined forces with Greg Lose, then an Apple rep at the University of Arkansas. Together, Lose and Oates – along with now-CFO David Powell – worked tirelessly at transforming the humble program into a commercially-viable product. Dr. Oates’ vision for the future was finally realized in 1994, when SOAPware, Inc. was officially born. Since that time, he has dedicated himself to improving patient care worldwide by empowering physicians with affordable, easy-to-use EHR solutions.
Improving healthcare and the quality of life, by empowering medical professionals and patients with innovative technology and services.
Do No Harm – We believe, as a company that holds Patient Information for millions across the globe, our first responsibility is to “do no harm.” We should protect their data, taking measures to maintain its integrity and privacy during all operations. We want our technology solutions to add value to the patient-provider relationship.
Be Truthful – We believe truthfulness is a foundation to building trusting relationships. We must be honest and open about all our actions and motives. It holds us to legal limits and makes us play fair because we are being transparent and accountable to both ourselves and our customers.
Be Accountable – We believe people should do what they say they will do. It requires a level of ownership that includes making, keeping, and proactively answering for personal commitments. We believe it’s acceptable to respectfully hold each other accountable. Organizational results come from collective, not just individual, activity. We believe in both individual and joint accountability.
Continuously Improve – We believe being great at something is a starting point, not an endpoint. Whether it is personal skill sets, processes, services, or applications, we believe we have the responsibility to continuously grow and improve.
Be Healthy – We believe people should maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit. Keeping this balance will translate into both our personal and work lives. We encourage people to enjoy their work life, and help others do the same. We encourage caring for one another and laughing together.
We consider our users to be the very heart of our company, and are committed to building enduring relationships with each and every one. Understanding that our success ultimately depends upon yours, SOAPware backs every product with comprehensive training, expert technical guidance and 24/7 software support options, ensuring a smooth and successful deployment every time.
Because medical providers have more important things to worry about than licensing, SOAPware offers a simplified EMR licensing program based on the number of providers on-site, rather than the number of users or computers. This allows licensed users to install their SOAPware products on any computer (including at home or in the hospital), giving them access to their EMR system anytime, anyplace.
SOAPware has teamed up with hundreds of companies across the country, ensuring our customers have access to the hardware installation, IT consulting and other services they need to promote a successful EMR implementation.
